Well I haven't achieved much in the garden for the last two weekends, on account of the fact that I have had to go to Melbourne on business, which is a bit of a shame as I had just got my 'sort it out for spring' head on and had been making some real progress on getting the garden in shape. Oh well, it will give me something to do when I get back! There are some plus sides to having to go down under ... ![]() Bleach in the garden ...Submitted by Calum on Mon, 02/11/2008 - 08:37... never really thought bleach had much place in the garden ... but I got through a good deal of it today! Patio, sandpit, climbing frame, all a bit green and in need of a purge. So this was the first really nice weekend of the year, and I spent most of it giving the garden a bit of a spring clean. I started with the patio, that involved a couple of bin bags, a jet wash, a yard broom and a bottle of bleach ... it is only when you start clearing a patio that you realise how filthy it was. So now it is lovely and clear again. ![]() Finally got around to clearing itSubmitted by Calum on Mon, 02/11/2008 - 07:28So the front garden got it's much needed spring clean. Amazing the number of bags you can fill with debris when you are in the mood. I had to cut back the Potentilla rather harshly, it was taking over the path. I have no idea how it is going to deal with this afront ... time will out. The Penstemon got much the same treatment. With the borders cleared and the rose cut it is generally a much tidier place. The Garden Wall - phase one is now complete ... time to make it prettySubmitted by admin on Thu, 02/07/2008 - 05:42So we have now completed the first phase of The Garden Wall functionality. You can now: More functionality now availableSubmitted by admin on Sat, 01/26/2008 - 11:54We have now added the My Garden link and the ability to enter details about your garden. The new content type of 'Garden Location' is available from the 'Create Content' menu. This allows you to specify a location in your garden; describe that location and then create content associated with it. The next big thing will be the 'My Plants' feature that will allow you to keep details of the specific plants in the various locations in your garden. Watch this space. And so it continues ... Plant Finder is done ... for nowSubmitted by admin on Thu, 01/24/2008 - 08:50The Plant Finder functionality is now Live. This gives you the ability to search for plants by either their botanical name or their common name. You can also filter the search by Taxa type, that is you can look specifically for Cultivars rather than species. This is just the start. we will be extending the search functionality to allow you to filter by a large number of plant characteristics and microclimate preferences. You will have to wait a bit for the all singing and dancing version that allows you to search plants other users are growing. Well it's finally up ... well almostSubmitted by admin on Fri, 01/18/2008 - 12:16Welcome to The Garden Wall. The site is finally up in the big bad world. This has been a long time in the making, I have been gently (and sometimes not so gently) working on this for two and a half years. Evenings, weekends, holidays ... train rides ... anywhere where I might otherwise have been reading a book. So this is the first Phase of the site. I need to do some work on the search screen ... like write it ... and that is phase one complete. |
